LOST IN TRANSITION

A leader I am working with is seeking to make profound change within his organisation and feels that it should be done without creating waves. It has raised a perplexing question for me – Is it possible to create change without making waves?

My sense is that we can’t inspire change without encountering some resistance. I think for leaders, the challenge with change is to keep people aligned and have them buy into the process. It requires the leader to be courageous and to follow though the transition from beginning to end without losing sight of what they are working towards and maintaining trust within the team.

What are your experiences with change in the workplace? Has leadership been supportive and trusting?
