The FIFA world cup currently being held in Qatar has certainly raised some interesting challenges in terms of culture. At the same time though, having the event in a region where it has never been held before means that many new opportunities have been provided. As it has traditionally been held in Western nations, holding the event in the Middle East has meant a whole new demographic of people have had access to the event and a different perspective on the world has been showcased. That is not to say that some of the challenges have been easy, however new opportunities always bring new challenges. Further, it provides deeper insight and understanding into cultures that differ to our own.
