OFFERING AN ALTERNATIVE PERSPECTIVE

 

Giving advice to others is easy to do, but how often is it ignored and not followed through on?

A technique I like in coaching conversations is to ask the question- ‘can I offer you an alternative perspective?’   With this question there is an invitation for the person to consider opening their minds and listening to alternative perspective rather than having it pushed upon them. It may or may not work and may lead to a different conversation or tangent. The key is to offer the opinion and encourage the consideration of another perspective.
